Today is the official start of Girl Scout cookie season. So be sure to stock up on your favorites Thin Mints, Tagalongs and Samoas. It helps to support local programs like the Leadville Girl Scouts recent visit to St. Vincent Hospital (SVH). The group presented SVH staff with toys for the ambulance last Thursday, Jan. 24.
Leadville Girl Scouts Troop #2160. Back (L to R): Deb Terrell of SVH, Troop leader Lizz Holm. Back Left: Sami Hartman, Abby Holm, Hannah Holm & Rebekah Jeffery. Middle Left: Morgan Holm, Krysta Roeder, Madyson Blamey, & Katie Page Estes. Bottom Left: Jewels Sandoval, Kelsea Roeder, Gianna Compean, & Jennifer Stevens. For many years, The Eastern Star Colorado Chapter #2, , has provided toys to be used by the SVH ambulance for children in their care. A few years ago the local Girls Scouts chapter got involved. This year troop 2160, lead by Lisa Roeder and Lizz Holm, were asked to assist the Eastern Star toy program. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of this troop, over 325 toys have been collected.
Some of the toys collected were too large and will go to the Shrine Hospital, probably in Salt Lake City; one very large stuffed dog will go to the Advocates of Lake County, probably to be used in Vonnie’s Room at the Lake County Family Crisis Center. The rest will be dispersed to the ambulance as needed.
Great work girls! You are so helpful and caring.
