Huck Finn Park Receives Grant from Daniels Fund
Last week, The Daniels Fund awarded $47,000 to Leadville’s Huck Finn Park Project, inching the fundraising thermometer ever closer to its end goal of $870,000.
According to their website, The Daniels Fund supports a variety of programs in the region including, projects that “expand opportunities for participation in quality youth sports programs that foster sportsmanship, confidence, discipline, and teamwork.”
This brings the project budget total to $750,000, leaving an additional with $120,000 left to raise. Funds will be used to build a state-of-the-art concrete skatepark, refurbished tennis courts, and a new building to service the entire park.
“The next few months will be critical as we await notification from a few final granting agencies,” stated committee member Carrie Mallozzi . To read more about the Huck Finn Park Project: CLICK.
At the local level, the group has a fundraiser planned for Saturday, March 23.
The evening event will take place at the Elks Lodge at 7 p.m. and will include food from the Tennessee Pass Cafe, drinks, live music from the Leadville Cherokees, and a silent auction.
