Jeffery Resigns as High School Principal
Lake County High School Principal Jamie Jeffery announced her resignation via email to her staff Monday, April 15. She will not return for the 2013-2014 school year. Jeffery will stay through the end of this school year.
“It was a difficult decision for me,” Jeffery stated in a phone interview with Leadville Today this morning She was not willing to go into any details beyond that statement.Principal Jeffery tendered her resignation Monday
According to a media advisory distributed by Lake County School District Superintendent Dr Wendy Wyman, “Mrs. Jeffery demonstrates true caring for students. Lake County School District is grateful for Mrs. Jeffery’s service.”

Tourism Panel Update/Planning Meetings This Friday
The Lake County Tourism Panel (TP) is seeking community input during its joint meeting with the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) this Friday, April 19. This local volunteer board is responsible for allocating funds generated from a local Lodging Tax to promote Leadville and Lake County. The group will meet in the Newmont Room of the National Mining Hall of Fame from 9 a.m. – Noon.
The discussion will include the objectives, structure and activities of the Tourism Panel.
The TP is also interested in hearing from local businesses about how these funds are spent. If you are not able to attend and wish to be included in the conversation, please share your questions, concerns and support via the Leadville Today Facebook Page.
The Tourism Panel will conduct its regular monthly meeting in the County Courthouse on Friday, April 19 beginning at 8 a.m., adjourning promptly at 8:30 to move the conversation over to the more detailed retreat meeting at the Mining Museum.
