Hometown Poster Artist Needs Your Vote!
Of the many good things about living in Leadville, community support often rises to the top. Here’s a fun opportunity to demonstrate your support of a hometown son.
The USA Pro Challenge is having a poster contest and Leadville native Zach French has submitted his entry. “I wanted to enter this because I have always enjoyed watching pro cycling and think it’s really cool that Leadville and the Rocky mountains are gaining a reputation for world class cycling,” said French via a Facebook interview.
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge Annual Poster Contest is a nation-wide contest inviting artists to create a national event poster that will be seen throughout the world. All types of artists – professional, amateur, aspiring – are encouraged to submit their designs via the USA Pro Cycling Challenge Facebook. So be sure to log-on and vote for Zach French’s poster design. Winners will be announced on Friday, May 10, 2013. The winner gets national design exposure as well as VIP passes for the final stage of this years race.
As most locals know, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge has passed through Lake County every year since its inception, even making Leadville’s Harrison Avenue a Sprint Stage in 2012.
“It is awesome to be able to watch the same guys climbing Independence pass that were just climbing the Alps in the Tour De France,” added French.
Zach was born and raised in Leadville, son of Jim French and Susan Houghton, both of whom have been local teachers/professors for years. Zach attended Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs for an Associate’s Degree in graphic design. He currently attends Colorado State University where he’s studying electronic arts.
“Thanks for the support!” wrote French.
