Pavilion Dedication Canceled Due to Gov. Shutdown
Have you been wondering how this entire government shutdown situation affects Leadville? Well, the first disappointing note came across the news desk with an email announcing that Saturday’s (October 5) planned dedication of the new Pavilion at the Leadville National Fish Hatchery picnic grounds has been canceled.
“We have had to cancel the celebration for the Pavilion at the hatchery due to the government shut down,” Judy Cole with Friends of the Fish Hatchery stated in an email to Leadville Today yesterday. Cole added that “The hatchery manager is not allowed to have any civilians, or even his own employees, on the hatchery grounds.”
So, no Pavilion dedication celebration, no fish hatchery tours and no nature trail hikes. Stay tuned, as once the “Government Shutdown” issues are (hopefully) settled and the hatchery (hopefully) re-opens, its next challenge is staying off the chopping block of federal budgetary cuts which commence in 2014.
