Leadville 9Health Fair Turns 35 on April 12
The Leadville 9HealthFair will be held this year on Saturday, April 12 from 7 a.m. to Noon at the Lake County Middle School.
“This year marks 35 years for the Leadville 9Health Fair,” said the Fair’s Site Coordinator Heather Scanlon, “It’s one of the longest running fairs in Colorado!”
For many in the Leadville and Lake County community, this annual event also acts as their annual check-up, serving 400-500 people per year. In addition to offering free and low-cost health screenings that address today’s most critical health issues, the 9HealthFair is an affordable way to measure other health concerns including heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, colon cancer, skin health, hearing and more.
One of the ways that 9HealthFair attendees can help make the process quicker and easier is to register in advance. Online registration is available at: http://www.9healthfair.org/register.
This year, local screenings will include: This year, local screenings will include: Cardiac Assessment, Pulse Oximetry, Sleep Apnea, Hearing Assessment, Bone Health, Lung Function, Body Mass Index, and Podiatry. In addition, the following low-cost screening are available: Blood Chemistry Screening (Blood Draw) (Cost: $30), Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) (Men Only Blood Draw) (Cost: $25), Hemoglobin A1c (Blood Draw) (Cost: $25), Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy Screening (Blood Draw) (Cost: $15), Colon Cancer Screening Kit (Take Home Test) (Cost: $40).
Participants should be aware that as it has been in recent years, there will be NO EARLY BLOOD DRAW. This medical screening will only be available the day of the Fair, April 12.
“It takes a group effort to get the job done,” added Scanlon. “We grateful to everyone who signs up to help, but there always room for more volunteers.”
