Workforce Centers Gear Up for NEXT Season: Winter!
As the summer season draws to a close, with the official marker of Labor Day Weekend just days away, seasonal workers often start to consider, what’s next? Granted, some may have their summer/winter gigs locked in, like a well-oiled, ski lift-op/raft guide marriage-made-in-heaven. But for those who don’t, or maybe want something more year-round, with benefits, there are a couple of Job Fair events happening this week.
Workforce Centers Hold Virtual Job Event, Fair
Workforce Centers in Leadville, Glenwood Springs, Edwards, Granby, Frisco, and Steamboat Springs are teaming up to host a Winter Virtual Job Fair, and it starts TODAY (8/25/2014)! What makes this event great for the job seekers is that it will run for 22 days, offers around-the-clock hiring, and be used to fill hundreds of jobs at ski resorts across Colorado’s high country.
The Department of Labor and Employment’s virtual job fair platform will be used to stage the event that will run from August 25 through September 15. Job seekers need to simply log in or register at www.connectingcolorado.com to gain entry.
Once inside the virtual event, they can peruse a wide variety of job opportunities in hospitality, hotel and food service, ski operations and customer service. Participants will also be able to attend workshops to help them write a strong résumé and build their job seeking and interviewing skills.
“We’re excited to be able to provide this virtual job fair to these great employers,” says Department of Labor and Employment Executive Director Ellen Golombek. “They offer full and part-time work, excellent benefits, competitive salaries and career growth opportunities.”
And because the job opportunities cover a wide geographic region, an online or “virtual” hiring event is the best way to go, she says. “Job seekers can visit this virtual fair from any location with a web connection and at any time.”
And for Leadville job seekers, there’s lots of help at the Leadville Workforce Center, located at 115 W. 6th Street. In fact, this Thursday, Aug. 28 from 1 – 6 p.m. the Leadville Workforce Center will be holding a mini job fair! The job openings are posted on the web at www.connectingcolorado.com. Applicants should apply online beforehand if they would like to be interviewed. Call the local office at 719-486-2428 for more details.
