Ski Cooper To Open Early, This Friday, Nov. 28
Ski Cooper located north of Leadville, has pushed up its Opening Day to this Friday, Nov. 28 due to recent snowfall.
According to the ski hill’s Facebook page:
“Let the mountaintops cry out and the depths of the oceans sing forth, that all the world might hear: COOPER IS OPENING EARLY!!! It’s the huge WHITE FRIDAY celebration for us! Forget about shopping, GO SKIING! With 3 feet of snow in the past two weeks, 54″ total so far this season, and a great 18″ average base depth, we’re ready to spin the lifts and offer you 100% of our terrain!”
While the Leadville ski mountain management was hopeful for early season snowfall, the resort was not planning on firing up the lifts until Dec. 13. As one of the older ski areas in the state, Ski Cooper doesn’t make any snow, so it relies purely on Mother Nature. The good news is that it has some of the best skiable terrain and conditions. And this November, that good news kept coming, inches at a time!
For now, Ski Cooper plans to be open Friday, Nov. 28, Saturday, Nov. 29 and Sunday, Nov. 30. Then, the next weekend they will be open on Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7. The Ski Mountain will open full time, 7 days a week, starting Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 through April 5, 2015.
