Here’s What’s Happening in Leadville This Weekend
There’s a few entertainment choices for tonight, from a movie, to live music, to a creative writing showcase; take your pick!
Leadville Community Movie Night continues tonight Friday, Jan. 16 with the movie Pitch Perfect. Doors open at 8 p.m. at the Colorado Mountain College – Leadville, Climax Building Gym. Admission is free. Movie goers are welcome to bring their own snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverages (no glass).
Pitch Perfect is a 2012 American musical comedy film follows a college women’s a cappella group, The Barden Bellas, as they compete against another a cappella group from their college to win Nationals.
If that musical movie gets you in the mood for more great tunes, then head on out to The Scarlet (21+ with ID), for some toe tappin’, hip swaying tunes at the corner of 4th and historic Harrison Avenue in downtown Lead Vegas! Come and check out the bluegrass rock of the Matt Spinks Trio band at The Scarlet. This fun kicks off at 10 p.m., but it’s Friday so head out early and celebrate the beautiful winter weather.
If you’re ready to share your own creative endeavors, then don’t miss tonight’s opportunity to do just that at 508 Harrison Avenue. The City On A Hill Coffee Shop presents an evening of entertainment by Cloud City Writers.
Tonight, January 16, from 6-8 p.m. join the fun for snippets by local writers, while sipping your favorite espresso!
Poets, novelists, short story writers, and playwrights will share their favorite projects in 6 minutes or less.
Bring a sample of your own work, and if time permits, the showcase will continue with an open mic format. Bring a friend! Don’t be shy!
