Winter MTB News: Volunteers Needed, Results Posted
Did your commitment to the New Year include some volunteering? Would you like to get out and enjoy some winter fun? Well, lucky for you those two paths may cross if you sign up to help out Leadville’s local bike club with their Winter Mountain Bike Series.

The Cloud City Wheelers (CCW) is actively recruiting volunteers for this year’s fat tire mountain bike series. The first race of the 2015 Leadville Winter Mountain Bike Series kicks off next Saturday, Jan. 24 with WinterBike at Copper Mountain. Here’s the rest of the Winter MTB Race Schedule:
- January 24 – WinterBike at Copper
- February 7 – Tennessee Pass Night Jam
- March 7 – Mineral Belt Mayhem
- April 18 – East Side Epic

Fat Tracks Made at the Pedal Power MTB Race
The Pedal Power Winter Mountain Bike Race, took place on January 10 at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at Ski Cooper. Now in its third year, this winter mountain bike event has met with rave reviews for its challenging track. The course utilizes the Tennessee Pass Nordic Centers network of nordic trails which wend their way through the pine forests and meadows flanking magnificent Tennesse Pass north of Leadville.

Thirty competitors took to the start line at the Pedal Power Winter Mountain Biker Race at Tennessee Pass Nordic Center.
Here’s how the field played out: Men’s Long Course Winners: First place: Kevin Menard, Dillon, 1:01:52; Second Place: Tyler Eaton, Eagle, 1:04:10; Third Place: Ty Hall,Leadville, 1:04:58. Winners on the Men’s Short Course: First place: Miquel Martinez, Leadville, 58:39; Second Place: Eric Wanles, Leadville, 1:11:50; Third Place: Finn Larson, Gypsum, 1:12:45.
On the Women’s Podium, the long course winners were: First Place: Michelle Dewine, Leadville 1:11:11; Second Place: Pavan Krueger, EagleVail, 1:11:30; and Third Place: Cait Boyd, Eagle, 1:12:00.
Women’s Short Course: First Place went to Carrie Larson, Gypsum, 58:25 and Second Place went to Sue Bardsley, Eagle, 1:13:36. For Full results, connect with the Pedal Power website: LINK.
