High Altitude Snowmobile Drag Races February 8
The 2nd Annual Leadville High Altitude Snowmobile Drag (HAD) Races and Demo Day will be held next Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Mt. Massive Golf course in Leadville. In the HAD competition, there will be a limit of 64 contestants, with double elimination divided into three classes: under 800cc, 800 class, and pro modified classes. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., racing at 10 a.m.
Last year’s event had a strong showing, with 17 racers participating in the inaugural event. Hosted by the High Riders Snowmobile Club (HRSC), this family-friendly event has snowmobilers drag-race for prizes and bragging rights.
“Last year, about half of the racers were from Leadville,” said HRSC Community Affairs Chairman Tom Driemeyer. “The rest were from around the state, with one rider from as far as Virginia.”
The organizers hope to see more women participating, as only one competed last year. So ladies, start your engines and head over to the Leadville golf course for some action-packed snowmobile drag-racing!
Prizes include ski lift tickets, snow sports rentals, hot springs packages, clothing, and gift certificates. All entrants are also given a shirt designed for the event.
