One-of-a-Kind Leadville Valentine’s Day . . Oom-pah!
It’s February, the month when thoughts turn to sweethearts and romance. If you’re looking for something unique to do with your Valentine, then Leadville is the place to be, because you’ve probably never seen anything like this. It’s the Chuck Spurlock Variety Band Valentine’s Day Polka Dance!
“In heaven there is no beer, that’s why we drink it here. And when we are gone from here, our friends will be drinking all our beer!”
Quite frankly, if the classic polka song, ‘In Heaven There Is No Beer’ doesn’t get your hands clapping, and toes tapping, then you might just check your pulse. Because it’s time to strike up the band! But this isn’t just any old band it’s the one and only polka sensation: the Chuck Spurlock Variety Band from Pueblo.
Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, the Polka Dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. at The Elks Lodge at 123 W. 5th Street in Leadville. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the door. The dance is a fundraiser for the Knights from Holy Family Parish In Leadville.
The Chuck Spurlock Variety Band offers a wide arrangement of music: Big Band, 1950s rock, swing, Latin, some country and of course POLKA!
That’s quite a diverse setlist. So, if you’re looking to put a bit of old world charm into your Valentine’s Day then grab your sweetheart and Oom-pah your way to the dance floor.
