Extra! Extra! Leadville Winter Sports Report
When you see a guy like Leadville’s Timmy Parr at the start line of any race, it’ll be no surprise that he’ll end up at the top of the pack. Or in first place, much like he did at last weekend’s Leadville Snowshoe Marathon. Parr is a Leadville Trail 100 Run Champion and had a nearly 55 minute time lead (3:49:40) on Dan Ligerfeild (4:46:15) who took second among the 10 marathon racers. Third place overall and first place female went to Darcy Piceu (4:49:20), a multiple Hard Rock 100 winner.
Women fared well in the half marathon as well, with Brandy Erholtz (1:46:39) taking second place behind winner Andrew Adamowski (1:39:02). Erholtz is a Snowshoe National Champion. Eric Pence (1:52:45) rounded out the podium in third place among the 20 half marathon racers. FULL RESULTS.
“Even though the courses conditions were near perfect,” said race organizer Smokey Burgess, “racers commented on what a challenge a marathon is on snowshoes. They also commented on how amazing the volunteers were and what a special place Leadville is!”
