Two Jack-Knifed Semis Snare Traffic on Hwy 24 West

The Friday afternoon commute saw major headaches for hundreds of Leadville travelers as TWO semis jack – knifed into each other on Highway 24 on the Battle Mountain Summit (mm 148.9), creating lengthy delays. The busy thoroughfare was re-opened just before 9 p.m. No injuries were reported. There were reports that neither semi was equipped with the legally required chains. Photo: Town of Red Cliff.

Calling all musicians, current, past and future members! Alpine Orchestra (AO) rehearsals for its Spring Concert series begin Monday, Feb. 23 at Mountain View Church of Christ, 16310 CR 306 (West Main), Buena Vista. Rehearsal starts promptly at 7 p.m. If you haven’t joined AO, now’s a good time. Renew friendships, meet and make new friends, make great music, and have some fun while filling the air with music.
The Alpine Orchestra is a community orchestra rehearsing and performing in the Upper Arkansas River Valley including musicians from Leadville, Buena Vista, and Salida.

Ladies from the First Baptist Church (FBC) of Leadville delivered some very special gifts to The Advocates of Lake County on Feb. 19. The FBC Ladies’ Ministry involved their entire church (and the kiddo’s too) to help make welcome baskets and birthday bags for victims of crime and their children. The FBC Ladies’ also brought food, books and toys for residents and non-residents. Thank You!
