Harperrose Studios features local and regional artists. Ann observes, “I think of my business as an artist collective.” After all, she is featuring over 24 artists, including her own work. Truly there is something for everyone, in a variety of price ranges. Whether it’s a large unique wall art creation, a small piece of jewelry, or an original note card, art helps everyone “Smile and Find Happy.”
Some of the featured artists include local favorites B.A. Dallas and Jessica Vogel who specialize in unique wall art. Silversmith Colin McFee’s belt buckles, pins, and pendants are available. Local photographer Steve Sunday captures Leadville’s distinctive scenery and wildlife, and Marsha Carter’s hand stamped pottery presents a blend of the historic and contemporary. Stanek wants everyone to “Come discover what these, and the many other talented artists within the gallery have to offer.”
When this space opened up, Ann and Spencer decided to take advantage of the situation, and give Ann the opportunity to move her work environment from home to the studio. A graphic and print artist, Ann has a long tradition in Leadville’s art community. Stanek worked with Melanzana and Ski Cooper as a graphic artist. With the Leadville Arts Coalition, she partnered with local artists and art educators Amanda Good and Erin Farrow on the Community Park Tile Project, and helped with the Kiddie Korral painting project.
The remodeled space provides Harperrose Studios the front Harrison Avenue section, and Spencer Stanek will use the rest of the building for the offices of International Alpine Design. Stanek’s International Alpine Design business was located in Avon for twelve years, until he relocated to 601 Harrison as of February. The Staneks have lived in Leadville for thirteen years, and consider Leadville their home. Ann wants Harperrose Studios to “Inspire Happy and celebrate our mountain lifestyle.”

The Staneks credit building owner Bill Comcowich for his efforts to enhance the property. Comcowich has completed the interior remodeling, added new windows on West 6th Street, and repainted the exterior. 601 Harrison has become an even greater asset to Harrison Avenue’s charm.
Come see the remarkable work of local artists, the beautiful remodeled building, and enjoy Ann and Spencer Stanek as they share their talents with Leadville and Lake County. Refreshments will be available.
