Upcoming Leadville Bike/Run Races Need Volunteers!
It’s race season! Whether it’s a 5k or a 100-miler, racers are flocking to Leadville and lacing up their running shoes or hopping on their bikes to reach their goal of crossing the finish line first, or just crossing the finish line, as the case may be.
It takes a lot of work and people to put these events on. To that end, there are a couple of upcoming local races that could use your help. So if you’re not competing in these athletic challenges, consider donating some time, and volunteer. It’s a great way to be an ambassador for Leadville, making sure that visitors enjoy themselves and you’ll find that it’s a pretty good way to spend part of your weekend.
Silver Rush 50-Milers to Be Held This Weekend
They’ll be plenty of folks in town participating in the Leadville Race Series Silver Rush Races this weekend.

Both races begin and end at Dutch Henri Hill just below the Colorado Mountain College campus off Highway 24. Full details, including schedules and course maps, can be found HERE.

Vonnie’s Voice Race Canceled for Boom Days Weekend
The Annual Vonnie’s Voice 5k Walk/Run which normally tales place over Boom Days weekend has been canceled for this year. According to race organizers, the group will be focusing on other fundraising efforts and educational programs to help raise awareness about stalking.
Next Weekend’s Tri-It High Triathlon Needs Volunteers
There are plenty of run races, and certainly the same can be said for bike races, but when you put those two sports together and throw in some swimming, you have the Tri-It-High Triathlon!
Race organizers are looking for more volunteers to help fill spots during the Lake County Recreation Department’s annual Tri-It-High Triathlon and Du-It-High Duathlon. According to an email from Lake County Recreation Director Amber McKee, “the event will take place on Sunday, July 19, starting at 8 a.m. and volunteers are needed for everything from handing out timing chips to directing traffic and manning aid stations.”
This is one of Lake County Recreation Department’s biggest events of the year that “helps bring in revenues and offset the costs of other free/reduced cost programs offered by the Recreation Department.”
