CrossFit 10-2 Celebrates One Year of Fitness and Fun
When it comes to staying fit and healthy in Leadville there are lots options, many of them right out your back door. But when the winter cold sets in, it can be challenging to motivate yourself to get out into the stormy weather. So it’s good to have an indoor option, considering how long some of those winter months can last!
Lucky for local residents there’s CrossFit 10-2, which celebrated one year of helping folks accomplish their fitness goals in Leadville last week. Chances are, you may have seen their sign along Highway 24, south of town (615 Hwy 24 S Unit D), near the Millennium Towing offices and Colorado Department of Transportation garage. The gym is located behind these two buildings, in what may look more like an industrial park than a fitness center. But don’t let that fool you.
In fact, CrossFit 10-2 members will tell you that one of the biggest attributes to this local gym is its supportive, family-friendly atmosphere. So don’t let the big, sterile machines, clunky weights and heavy lifting fool you . . . or discourage you from checking them out!
CrossFit is a national strength and conditioning program consisting mainly of a mix of aerobic exercise, calisthenics (body weight exercises), and Olympic weightlifting. Started in California in 2000, today they boast more than 13,000 affiliate programs all across the country, including the one in Leadville.
CrossFit 10-2 was started in 2015 in by Adam Olsen and Brandon Drury. They are both certified instructors by the affiliate and work hard to accommodate all age groups and abilities. The owners and trainers genuinely help people accomplish fitness goals. You will have a coach for every class that will guide you with form and motivation. CrossFit 10-2 workouts are constantly changing, incorporating total body exercises that are designed to make you perform better through life.
In addition, the group is civic-minded and have facilitated several fund raisers, including a clothing and food drive to assist the California firefighters during last season’s record challenges.
