Recreation Programs and Races – It’s Summertime!
Summer is in full swing which for many residents means getting outside and being active. To that end, Lake County Recreation has some upcoming programs for all ages that may be just the thing you need to get out and make the best of the fair weather months!
The Wee Sports program is designed to get youth ages 3-5 years learning sport skills in a fun environment. In this six week session, participants will play fun games as well as practice sport specific skills that related to t-ball, soccer, basketball and floor hockey. Parents should plan on staying for the class to play and help facilitate activities. The first and last 10 minute of class will be dedicated to free time. The class is Fridays through August 26 from 10 – 11 a.m. in the 6th Street Gym. Cost is $30 for the six week session or $6 drop in rate.
Do you like the disc? Then the Frisbee League could be your perfect summertime program offered by the Recreation Department. This league will play 7 member teams against each other in the non-contact, active sport of Ultimate Frisbee. The game is played with a disc which can be passed, not run, while the defending team attempts to stop the team from making progress up the field.
This league begins Friday, July 15 and teams will play from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Community Park field. The cost is $100 a team and players 16+ years are eligible.
