Library Card Signup, Author Visits & K9 Walk
The Lake County Public Library (LCPL) and their Friends have a few exciting events coming up. So mark the calendar if you love to bury your nose in a book, or simply support the institution that keeps lending out free information, knowledge, and entertainment.
September is National Library Card Signup Month. If you don’t yet have a LCPL card, sign up any day that they’re open. With the end of summer comes a return to their regular hours, so expect the library to be open every day of the week including Sundays. Ideally, a resident of Leadville should also have a library card at Colorado Mountain College, Summit County, and Buena Vista, since all share an inter-regional catalog system.
On September 10, the Annual Karen Lundell Memorial K-9 Fun Walk will take place at 10 a.m. on the Mineral Belt Trail starting at E. 12th Street. Bring a pooch to accompany you on this walk to raise money and prizes for the LCPL. Don’t have a dog? You can still participate by donating dog-friendly prizes, or by borrowing a dog from the Lake County Animal Shelter. Register at LCPL, or the day of the race on Saturday.
The Friends of the Library Booksale will be held once again this year in the 6th St. Gym, Friday, Sept. 16 from 12 – 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Books, CDs, and DVDs will sell for 50 cents per pound.
Finally, on Wednesday, Sept. 28, authors Ann Parker (of the Silver Rush Mystery series) and Donna Baier Stein will be visiting LCPL for an open Q&A and meet-and-greet. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 6:30 p.m.
LCPL and Friends of the Lake County Public Library are always seeking volunteer support for these events. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, email email@example.com, call LCPL at (719)486-0569, or visit their Facebook page.
