Good Sledding Await at Dutch Henri Hill . . . for FREE!
Pump up the tubes and grease up the old trash can lid, because the Lake County Dutch Henri Sled Hill is officially open! And with the recent weather, chutes will be thickly packed with snow, and with plenty of padding for flying overboard.
Dutch Henri is a fun and rigorous activity. This sled hill has developed into an adventurous, somewhat directed series of hook chutes that get the riders and the crowd hollering out for winter fun, big moves and yes, the occasional crash.
If you bring your own tube, it’s FREE at Dutch Henri Hill. But you can also rent tubes there on Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (weather permitting)! Tube Rentals are $7/hour (non resident) or $5/hour (resident with ID). And if the kids are under 18, they need to have a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian. Be advised that Leadville/Lake County still make you get to the top the old fashioned way, so be ready to huff it up to various “put in” points. The higher you go, the bigger the reward!
Riders may also use a plastic sled – break out the flying saucers! However, toboggans and sleds with metal runners are prohibited. To access the sled hill, enter from the bottom area, using the parking area off Highway 24.
The hill is open from dawn to dusk every day (conditions permitting), located at the intersection of McWethy and Highway 24. For more information on the tubing hill please call 719-427-0099, or click HERE for a a schedule.
