Fall officially arrives today, September 22, and this year it could be a shorter than ever season if the forecasters are correct. So take advantage of the golden aspens and rooftop snow and get your Harvest groove on in Leadville Today!
If fall means football to you, then don’t miss the best (and only) college football tailgate party hosted by Leadville’s Historic Pastime Bar & Cafe this Saturday, Sept. 23. Games, prizes giveaways, and college football will be going on all day. Roots Rx Leadville will be sponsoring a FREE Tailgate Taco Bar from 4 – 6 p.m. After the Michigan State vs Nortre Dame night game! Football fans can find the fun down in Leadville’s old red light district at 120 W. 2nd Street at the Pastime. Who you “Roots”ing for this Saturday?
Tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 23 is the final Leadville Community Market and they’ll be wrapping things up with a BANG. Independence Realty will sponsor a free BBQ for the finale, and Leadville musician Jessie Thetford will be entertaining the crowds with some LIVE music from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.! Of course you can find some delicious baked goods from Cookies with Altitude, fresh produce from Mt. View Fruit Farm, and some dazzling Paparazzi Jewelry, to name a few. See you at the market for the last Saturday of the 2017 season!
If you want to mix up some game-day fun with some outdoor adventure or take in some Fall Colors, then check out these options aboard the Leadville Colorado and Southern Railroad. One of the Leadville Train‘s most popular package is the zip and ride package. In the morning, your group will ride the train up high above the valley floor, letting you off at the Top of The Rockies Zipline crossing where you’ll be picked up and taken zip your way through the San Isabel National Forest down to base camp. This four hour tour is perfect for adults and children giving them an opportunity to see untouched wilderness and is available throughout the train season.
If taking pictures is more your thing then you don’t want to miss their Fall Photo Special Train Rides which take advantage of Colorado’s autumn beauty! This tour goes all the way, an additional mile and a half, allowing you to see the full beauty of the Arkansas River Valley and will take 3 hours. Bring your camera and your jacket! And the best part? The cost is only the normal rate to ride the train! So grab your camera and other photography-loving friends and pick your date: Sept. 23, 24, 30 and October 1, with two different departure times of 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.
