The Weekend Report for Leadville Today
If you’re a Thank-God-It’s-Friday kind of person, then today you might feel some extra #TGIF appreciation, as Cycles of Life holds its annual Customer Appreciation Party in Leadville Today, October 20. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. at Leadville’s bike shop and will feature one-night-only special discount for locals.
Cycles of Life bike shop is located on historic Harrison Avenue in downtown Leadville at 309 Harrison Avenue. And remember, fat tire season is right around the corner. . . the wheels never stop spinning at 10,200 feet!
Also tonight Vertex Workspace will hold its next 3rd Friday Connect! This is local business owners and professionals chance to network with other remote, Internet professionals–or just come and have fun! The event will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. at Vertex WorkSpace, located at 1205 Harrison Avenue, across from the public library. Refreshments will be served.
Cooper Fall Festival: Meeting, Music & Miller
This Saturday, Ski Cooper will be hosting its inaugural Cooper Fall Festival. And if the forecasters are correct, the ski hill is likely to see some fresh snow on those slopes to set the stage for another great season!
Cooper Fall Festival will offer a variety of activities and events throughout the day, kicking off with the annual Community Meeting at 2 p.m. For slope enthusiasts new to the Cooper scene, this annual event has its roots in maintaining transparency and accountability to the Leadville and Lake County Community about the operations plans and bottom line.
Unlike neighboring mega-resort ski areas, Cooper’s business model and relationship to Lake County make it as unique as the skiing and boarding experience it offers. You can read the 2016 Community Meeting story, or come and hear this year’s report starting at 2 p.m. upstairs in the Cooper Lodge. It’s (usually) something you can be proud of if you live in Leadville Today!
After The Community Meeting, Ski Cooper will switching gears to a more festive mood by providing some music and food from 3 – 6 p.m. Cooper’s culinary team will be offering some delicious treats from their cafeteria and Katie O’Rourke’s Irish Pub. The Beau Thomas Band will be bringing some soul-filled blues, to accompany the cold craft beer to wash it all down.
Then be sure to hand around through the evening as Ski Cooper presents the first showing of the Warren Miller film in the state this season! The show starts at 7 p.m. and is a fundraiser for the Cloud City Ski Club. There are only a limited number of tickets left. You can buy your tickets online: HERE
And if that doesn’t get you motivated to hit the slopes, perhaps Cooper’s 4 Day XP Pass will; it goes on sale at Noon, this Saturday, Oct. 21. Saturday is the day, and Ski Cooper is the place to get geared up for “THE ? OF SKIING IN THE HEART OF THE ROCKIES!”
St. Joseph Church To Re-Open Sunday
On Sunday, Oct. 22, Holy Family Parish will celebrate milestones in its restoration and repair projects with a Mass celebration at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church on West 2nd Street. After nearly two years of work, this historic church will be re-opened to parishioners, ready to show-off the intricate stone-work upgrades which provide the new framework for the historic frescoes adorning the walls. Sunday’s church service will combine both the English and Spanish-speaking worshipers for a special 10 a.m. Mass. All faith-filled worshipers welcome!
That’s the weekend round up report from Leadville Today. The weather could throw a few curve balls, so be prepared, but get out there and make it a good one!
