Support Leadville Coach and Athlete!
Leadville’s local school coaches work hard. It takes a lot of dedication and time on the road to help student athletes to reach their goals. Now it’s your chance to give back to a dedicated coach in Lake County.
By placing well at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Omaha, Nebraska (August 2017) Leadville’s Amy Peters qualified for the 2018 ITU Standard Distance Triathlon Age Group World Championships being held in Gold Coast, Australia, on September 16, 2018. The standard distance is a 1500 meter swim, 40K bike, and 10K run. Peters will be competing against women from 46 countries.
“Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to go to the Olympics. Although this is not even close to the Olympic level, it will be a dream-come-true to represent Team USA on the international stage,” said Peters.
Amy is married to Jamie Peters, a mathematics teacher in the Lake County School District . They keep busy raising eight children. Amy lives and trains in Leadville and has served Lake County Schools for 17 years coaching students in track & field and in cross country running.
Your donation will allow Amy and Jamie to fly to Australia to attend this important event. You can find their GoFundMe page HERE.
Schools’ Spring Art Show on Friday
In school news the annual Spring Art Show will take place tomorrow, Friday, May 4 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Lake County Intermediate School. This district-wide show celebrates artwork from Lake County’s preschool through 12th grade students.
Attendees will see the return of the silent auction, featuring donations from local businesses! There will also be a ceramic sale featuring handmade ceramic work by high school students, Lake County’s High School art teacher, and some fabulous local artists. LCHS Band and Choir will also be performing!
Art show coordinators and teachers, Amanda Good and Erin Farrow depend on amazing, generous volunteers to make this event happen, and this year will be no different. This is the art program’s only fundraiser, and it is how they raise the majority of the money used for art supplies. You do not need to be artistic to help!
