High Country Golf is Underway in Leadville!
Fore! If you have been wanting to learn the sport of golf or maybe just up your game this season, then you’re in luckif you live in Leadville Today. Starting this Tuesday, June 1 and continuing weekly through a series of golf clinics will be offered at Mt. Massive Golf Course.
The FREE clinics will run Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 3 p.m. No clubs needed, no cost, no age restrictions. The Leadville golf season got underway earlier in May as America’s highest course opened. This season’s green fees cash-in at for nine holes. If you do a little math, you may find that becoming a member or buying a seasonal pass might calculate a discount depending on how often you hit the links.
Amateur Disc Golf Comes to Leadville
If the sports terms “hyzer” and “anhyzer“ are familiar to your weekend outdoors fun, then take note of the upcoming National Amateur Disc Golf Tour (NADGT) taking place in Leadville. Next Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6, Colorado Mountain College’s (CMC) disc golf course will host the national event. And good news for all you disc-golfers, the tournament is open to anyone, however registration is limited and filling fast.
Spectators are welcome to attend and watch the event. The NADGT is the official disc golf tour for amateur disc golfers, many of whom are looking to take their next step to becoming a professional player. Headquartered in Eatonton, Georgia, the tour produces a network of tournaments nationwide for every level of amateur disc golfer.
“Colorado Mountain College is thrilled to welcome the tour and disc golfers from across the country to experience our amazing high altitude campus course,” said Amy Smallwood, CMC Leadville associate dean of academics and student affairs. “We’re looking forward to this being one of many NADGT tournaments CMC Leadville will have the opportunity to host.”
The amateur-only singles tournament is sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association. Day One will include intermediate, recreational, junior, masters (except men’s over 40 masters) divisions. Day Two is reserved for the advanced divisions for men and women and the men over 40 masters division.
